Categorizing my art

Well, it’s time to ask…. What type of artist am I? I’ve been asked this over the last 20 years. I never have a good answer. I suppose I’m sitting on the edge of Neo-Expressionism and Street Art. Why? Well, Neo-expressionists dismissed the intellectualized and refined approach to art, and turned back to expressing raw emotion. It was more about expressing an emotion. Sometimes my work is pretty raw and as I work through developing a visual language most often I’m trying to convey a feeling of freedom, love, rejection, pain, joy, justice… Street art is largely born out of expressing these same ideas in the form of graffiti and murals using whatever is available as a canvas. Looking at my art I’d generally ask you what do you feel? And, I hope you see that same spark in yourself that I felt when creating.
